" I was born with a passion for fashion and art. Dressing like a star and drawing clothes were the dreams of my childhood. The passion grew inside of me more and more through out the years, and came out to be the only thing I wanted to do when my teachers ask me what my ambitions were once I left school . I always have been struggling between my taste for Sciences (which I was deeply sad to leave behind since I wasn't taking the science route), and more liberal subjects such as Art, History or French. Fashion, it seems to me, is the perfect alliance between all of these : knowing historical studies that can influence our conception of art, being able to write about your collection or for a fashion magazine and being good at art are the most complete and broad studies of all.
In fact, the Designer has to consider everything: he is a scientist, when he evaluates the limits and the capacities of his work from the patterns to the marketing; an artist when he decides of the design of his own collection; a writer if he were to choose the path of fashion oriented towards the writings in the magazine, and in some cases an historian, when he is inspired from an historical context for his future collection. He even has a sociological role. When you design a dress or any clothes, you directly influence the way people are going to wear it and feel in it.I want to work in fashion because by studying fashion & art, you learn to control and understand proportions, volume structure, tools and materials. You can then propose innovative concepts and ideas for a future collection. Designers and artists sometimes invent, create and the major part is based on what is going out of their brains. This is what I find impressive in the work of a Fashion designer or an Artist : he is not only an artist but also an inventor. He is capable of offering an alternative to the client, because he has the ability to understand everything around his creative pieces of work. So, when he proposes an idea, he simultaneously has the view of an engineer, reflecting upon realization, and the view of an artist, reflecting upon the mark of his ideas in his patterns.
Fashion and art aren't only based on art of clothes: it is the art of proposing the best alternative for the client and our own mind , by taking into account, the definition of culture, philosophy, history, art, and science. It is a discipline that requires a vast knowledge, and creativity combined in the most noble discipline. The one that creates, and designs clothes that people are going to wear during their everyday life. I want to be this creator. "
